Don’t Walk Alone

Your Students’ Union wants to ensure that all students are safe especially when on a night out. Please follow the guidelines below to minimize the risk of you or a friend been attacked.

• Go out with friends and/or let someone know where you are.
• Carry your mobile/whistle/personal alarm if out alone. Personal alarms are available in the Students’ Union from the Welfare Officer.
• Use your instincts. If somebody/some situation feels wrong to you, get away from it/them.
• Make sure your friends don’t go home alone and know who they go home with.
• Never leave any drink unattended, if you think your drink has been spiked tell someone you trust.
• Be aware of the effects of alcohol on you and your friends.

If something should happen to you remember it is not your fault and any incident should be reported. Contact John Madden (Welfare Officer) in the Students’ Union for information on where to get help. The phone number of Athlone Gardai station is 090 6498550.

 Johnny Madden will be taking care of the Socities if there are any queries.

The Accommodation booklet is also being updated at the moment by the Accommadation and Welfare officer.
